So as you know, my name is Amber. I don't why I was given this name. In Greek and Latin meaning, it means undying and immortal. Amber is in the warm color spectrum and is associated with the concepts of safety, confidence, and happiness. The English word amber originally comes from the Arabic word “Anbar,” which shares the same meaning.
However, in US, this name usually is given to a girl. So my teachers used to have thought I was a girl if they just read my name. My classmates always made fun of my name too. They call me by nicknames: Ambear, Ambee, Amby, Amer, Bamber, Ember, Gem.... At first I was a little angry, but then I completely ignored them.
Although my name sounds like a girl's name, I am not girlish at all!
